I’m Still a Guy

I picked up the new Brad Paisley CD on the Weekend.  I’m still laughing at this song, and I have played it ….repeatedly … over the past few days.

When you see a deer, you see Bambi
And I see antlers up on the wall
When you see a lake you think picnics
And I see a large mouth up under that log

You’re probably thinkin’ that you’re gonna change me
In some ways well, maybe you might
Scrub me down, dress me up
Oh but no matter what,
Remember, I’m still a guy

When you see a priceless friend’s painting
I see a drunk naked girl
You think that riding a wild bull sounds crazy
And I’d like to give it a whirl

Well love makes a man do some things he ain’t proud of
And in a weak moment I might
Walk you sissy dog, hold your purse at the mall
But remember, I’m still a guy

And I’ll pour out my heart, hold your hand in the car
Write a love song that makes you cry
Then turn right around, knock some jerk to the ground
‘Cause he copped a feel as you walked by

I can hear you now talkin’ to your friends
Sayin’ yeah girls he’s come a long way
From draggin’ his knuckles and carryin’ a club
And buildin’ a fire in a cave

But when you say a backrub means only a backrub
And you swat my hand when I try
Well now what can I say at the end of the day
Honey, I’m still a guy

And I’ll pour out my heart
Hold your hand in the car
Write a love song that makes you cry
Then turn right around
Knock some jerk to the ground
‘Cause he copped a feel as you walked by

These days there’s dudes getting’ facials
Manicured, waxed, and Botoxed
With deep spray-on tans and creamy lotiony hands
You can’t grip a tackle box

Yeah with all of these men linin’ up to get neutered
And headin’ out to be feminized
But I don’t highlight my hair, I’ve still got a pair
Yeah honey, I’m still a guy

Oh, my eyebrows ain’t plucked, there’s a gun in my truck
Oh thank God I’m still a guy

I am gonna need this to be my theme song in a few years, ….eer, well now works too.

Okay time to blog

It’s been awhile since I last posted.  So what do I say.  I have been busy.  I have made a few trips out to the camp.  It looks good.  Other then that I think life has been a blur.

Let me tell you about today.  In the afternoon I was trying to print my sermon before finishing up some other things and then headed home.  If your thinking “wow, Darin is no longer a procrastinator” your wrong.   I will have to finish it Saturday, I hope.  But, when I went to print it wouldn’t print.  Is it plugged in? Looked like it.  Then I checked other connections, the were all good.  So I checked to see if the printer was working properly.  It was offline. hmm.  Re-boot.  Still not working.  Play some more, down load new drivers, play some more.  Still not working.  hmmm.  Then I realize that Ella was in the building today.  I connected the laptop this morning but Ella likes to play with it and then move it.  Ahhhh yes,  Ella took the connection out of the USB and put it into the network connection right beside it.  30 min down the drain.

Now the fun part, my little buddy Connor Pippus ran up to me when I dropped Lauren off at school today.  Here’s the converstation.

DARIN,DARIN, DARIN guess what I get to do tomorrow?
I have no idea Connor what do you get to do tomorrow?
I am going to the Farm Progress Show with Grandpa, Grandma and Daddy.
Wow Connor that sounds like fun are you going to get on the tractors?
Maybe?  But when you or Donna drop off Lauren tomorrow, I won’t be at school.
Hey Connor you sound sooo excited I bet…
I am sooo excited.

Is anyone else that excited about farm progress?

I am conviced that with out Connor’s excitment this morning  (getting me excited today), I might have lost it at another computer …eer …Ella computer…eer… Darin not checking properly probelm.  Attitude makes a big difference in the day.  No wonder God tells us we must be little kids!!!

Not much to say

Feeling like I should write a post, I realize that not too much is going on in our life right now.  Really, the only thing that has changed in our life in the past few weeks is that we bought another car.  We are now a two car family.  I tried to hold out as long as we could, but we realized we were both going crazy.   Donna works evenings and I work mostly during the day.  Then there are activities for the kids.

As much as I didn’t want another monthly payment I think were going to be happy.  Well kind of, I was coming back from Regina yesterday and just as we got to Moose Jaw, Ella “puked” in the car.  She just hit her car seat.  Donna woke up this morning to Ella saying “I am sorry mommy, I puked in your new car”.  She’s a sweetie.  And she also was apologizing to dad for having to clean it up (last night). Needless to say the car has been christened.

Lauren is going to turn 6

We had Lauren’s birthday party today.  A few friends and her went mini golfing today.  WOW what an experience.  We came back to our home to have cake, ice cream and games, which included a pinata with whistles in it.  Yep, 7 whistles all going at once.   All-in-all it was fun.

Also of interest, this is the first time since Lauren was born that we can celebrate Lauren’s birthday on Mother’s day.

Happy Birthday to Lauren.

Lauren, Ella and Chloe

This is a picture of Lauren and Ella with Chloe Martin.  Our girls couldn’t wait to meet Chloe.  And both had chance to hold her.  Ella did give enough time to take a picture.  Chloe’s parents are Kevin and Beckie Martin.  If you want to see more pictures of Chloe check the grandparents blog or the uncle’s blog.

Shower Anyone?

Our shower got installed today.  After watching 2 guys tackle this project, all I can say is that I am glad I paid someone to do it.  I hope to put up pictures soon.

It took longer then I wanted but I did find the camera and had to recharge the batteries.

Name Change

I changed my Blog name.  I hated it when I did it but my brain couldn’t thinK of anything else, and I mean anything.  Then I forgot all about it.  But tonight I was surfing and I saw this name on Shannon Bandura’s blog.  I stole it.  It was linking to our site, so did I really steal it??  I was also thinking of ways to cheat a bit like maybe just take the initials!!! nahhh better not do that.

Blogging???

Okay, I may not be that good at getting to the blogging thing.  So here is the update.

Basement.
I have a toilet and a sink in.  I did it myself, well brother Kevin helped.  The sink leaked a bit at first and Kevin was telling people that he was fixing my mistake.  Seems to me that the plumber puddy worked well on the half I put it on.  The leak came for the end he tightened.  But I am grateful for his help so I can take the hit.

The plumber should be coming this week to put in the shower.

I bought an air compressor and brad nailer this weekend so I can put on the trim.  I am going to need to get a another brad nailer that will shoot longer nails.  The first one came as part of the kit, so I will have two.  Oh well the one can be used for all the crafty things I am gonna make. .. yah right.   But would have been good when I was putting together kids dressers etc, so I am sure will come in handy again.

So I am hoping baseboards and the little bit of hanging ceiling over then next 2 or 3 weeks

Girls (From youngest to oldest)
Ella has a cold.  Even with it she makes me laugh on a daily basis.  She is cute, funny and always having fun.

Lauren has just finished a week off of school.  She continues to do well in school.  She is too smart for my own good.

Donna is still working a fair bit.  She is also encouraging me to keep going on the basement.  Which is good and I appreciate it.  It’s always good to have a helping hand. And we enjoying talking while we do it.  It’s peaceful to work together.

 ME
It’s the first round of the playoffs.  Need I say more.

Well I will.  I’m enjoying preaching again.  The winter months are behind us and I am looking forward to another week with study.  I can’t say it’s always like that.

I have been bugged a fair bit lately about what is happening to my niece Ireland.  As most of you know Todd and Michelle went to court in January for custody of Ireland.  As of this moment they don’t have a decision.  While I am glad that the courts take time to seriously consider what is best, I wish they would make the decision for her.  The one that is in her best interest.  Which I know is to be with Todd and Michelle.  They are awesome parents, and I’m so proud of them.  So if you are out there reading this, can you say a prayer for Ireland. It is time for a decision.
